COST Action TU1406 was active between 2015 and 2019 aimed to bring together, for the first time, both research and practising community to accelerate the establishment of a European guideline asset management strategies for roadway infrastructures. Key performance indicators, qualitative and quantitative-based, must be defined and obtained from data collected during principal inspections, through a visual examination, a non-destructive test or a temporary or permanent monitoring system. Then, obtained indicators are compared with performance goals, to evaluate if the quality control plan is accomplished. The Action was aimed to tackle the issue related to the large disparity across EU countries regarding the way these indicators are quantified and how such goals are specified.
